I love this site. I've been here before under other e-mail addresss. I had to change it, so I figured I would leave another message.
My great-great grandparents lived in the Rosse's Point area in the early to mid 1800's. They were Terrence and Mary Leyden. As far as I can tell they had 3 children. Catherine, Bridget and John. John married Maria Loughlin and moved to Dromahair in Co. Leitrim.
I hope some one can give me more info on Catherine and Bridget and any other family left behind in Rosse's Point. I know that Catherine married Patrick Bartley and Bridget married Bryan McTiernan.
Thasnks for any help that you can give me

Message: Greetings from Canada. What a lovely & interesting place this is. I have perused the stories & thoroughly enjoyed seeing the images as I learned more about Rosses Point. I journeyed to your little corner of the world when one Kieran Devaney visited my land, & kindly signed my guestbook, leaving behind the link. I am glad he did.
This has been a wonderful way to start my Canada Day holiday, by learning more about the serene beauty of Rosses Point & the lives of the people who made it what it is today. I have really enjoyed the journey. Thank you.
Pax,
Rhiannon

Message: I have traced my family tree back to a Jenkins Deveny from Dungannon County, Tyrone Ireland born approximately 1620. He and his son William immigrated to the US (unknown year)and lived in New Jersey before settling in Rutherford County, Tryon North Carolina. My decendants are from that area. Most of my extended family on both sides of the family are in Rock Hill, South Carolina (appoximately 30 min south of Charlotte, North Carolina). If you know of anyone who has any knowledge of a Jenkins and William Deveny from Tyrone Ireland, please let me know. I don't even have the name of Jenkins wife. I don't know his occupation or when he immigrated. I have been using free websites to gain information. Thank you. I know there are a lot of Deveny, Devaney, and other spellings to the last name. Our line was Deveny in Ireland, but after about ten years, it somehow changed to Devinney in America.

I would imagine all who go there are after the same wonderful "oil painting scenes" that are engrained in your mind long after you have left. And when you are in Rosses Point I imagine the feelings of our ancestors who looked out to sea and waved goodbye to their loved ones never knowing if they would meet again. I remember too, Ireland has her sad stories and we owe it; to pass them on to our children.
