Message: Please help me...I am trying to research my family on my grandfathers side (Hennessey). They immigrated to the United States around 1850-1860, his mother died giving birth to him and his father was killed when he was 6 months old. He was the youngest of 11 children and his sister Margaret Ann Hennessey was a nurse in the United States Army. She ran Ellis Island hospital during World War 1, never married and died in 1964.

I think the Gillen family that I come from is from Ireland. My great grandfather was Thomas Gillen and he was born in Brooklyn, NY. He married Delia Kerwin who was from England and came to the US when she was 3 yrs old. Her father was a colonel in the English army. Thomas was a sgt on the Brooklyn police force.
